Terremark

Overview

Terremark built its business around managed hosting, co-location, network and security services before formally entering the cloud computing market last year.

They built their Enterprise Cloud offering on their Infinistructure utility computing Web-based platform, which includes an integrated systems management console. It's a platform that relies on VMware's virtualization technology. Terremark's vCloud Express solution is an extension of their ongoing partnership and brings Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to developers and smaller and mid-sized companies.

All together, with Terremark's experience in data center operations and their relationships with 160 carriers worldwide, they've created a cloud platform well suited for enterprise customers - those looking for the requisite performance and security required for mission-critical applications.

Value Proposition

Terremark's Enterprise Cloud seeks to marry the benefits of cloud computing - resource flexibility and lower cost - with the requirements of enterprise customers - security, control and scalability. Terremark allows for a hybrid cloud model, if needed, "by enabling 'burst mode' access to a pool of additional resources, available on a metered basis". A global carrier network gives customers more options in designing a network architecture that's optimized for their specific needs and bottom line. A Web-based interface makes it easy to configure and manage data center resources in the cloud.

Products & Services

• Enterprise Cloud is a managed platform that allows resources for server, storage and memory to be automatically provisioned based on the customer's requirements for a given application. The Enterprise Cloud uses the Infinistructure Web-based interface to deploy and manage the infrastructure. Its digitalOps service delivery tool provides the command-and-control functionality for management and administration of the environment.
• vCloud Express, now in beta, is designed to lower the barrier of entry to on-demand compute and storage resources through a partnership with VMware "that makes web-scale computing easy and easily accessible to developers at an affordable rate" with pricing that is targeted at challenging Amazon's lead in the market.
