Overview

ParaScale is a start-up in the burgeoning Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud storage market. In late March 2009, they announced their flagship product, ParaScale Cloud Storage (PCS), which has been in beta testing with 15 customers, is heading into general availability.

ParaScale Cloud Storage (PCS) is a software solution that leverages the cost advantages of standard Linux servers allowing them to be clustered together to act as a file repository with massive capacity and parallel throughput. It addresses the need to cost-effectively store and manage, in real-time, huge amounts of unstructured data like video, virtual machine images, and medical images.

PCS gives IT managers the ability to cost-effectively manage and support the exploding growth in data with the performance required by them. Moreover, PCS allows service providers to build different types of public clouds and offer a variety of storage cloud services (like Amazon S3), while enterprise customers can experiment, develop, and grow their own private clouds within their data center.
