Overview

Layered Tech has two primary lines of business: virtualization and cloud computing services (i.e. IaaS), as well as, managed dedicated hosting. Layered Tech's infrastructure, located in eight data centers globally, is used to support web sites and host applications from customers across a broad range of industries.

Layered Tech's virtualization and cloud computing offerings provide on-demand compute resources, network bandwidth, and storage capacity for customers looking to reduce or eliminate expenses associated with their data center (i.e. capital equipment, under-utilized resources, or staff). Infrastructure is assembled and configured using web-based tools in real-time, so customers can quickly spin up services without having to worry about hardware deployment, configuration, and management. Layered Tech's virtual infrastructure really tries to handle it all.

Value Proposition

Layered Tech provides the technology, infrastructure, and support to enable customers to eliminate capital expenses and save on operating costs, allowing them to focus on their core business. The Grid Layers make running applications simpler and more flexible because customers don't need to deploy, configure or maintain physical or software resources; all infrastructure resources are assembled and configured automatically on demand. And additional compute power can be increased on-the-fly via a web browser.

Meanwhile, IT infrastructure costs can be reduced with the use of Virtuozzo Containers allowing customers to maintain the one-application-per-server deployment model, while sharing hardware resources.

Products & Services

• The Grid Layer is the foundation for a Virtual Private Data Center (VPDC) to turn servers and storage into a cloud computing platform, which can be dynamically scaled as required. It uses 3tera's AppLogic -- a vendor-neutral, advanced virtualization technology compatible with existing operating systems, middleware, and web apps -- to turn a multi-tier application or service into one entity managed as a single system. It's optimized for high transaction workloads.

• The Grid Layer Virtual Machines (based on 3tera AppLogic) and Hyper-V Virtual Machines (based on Microsoft Hyper-V) provide Virtual Machine Hosting for high performance and availability of computing resources through two options:
  • Virtuozzo Containers provide a way to consolidate multiple applications onto one hosted system. Customers can take one physical or virtual machine and carve it into multiple virtual machines for either internal use or resale.
  • DynaVol is a web-based data management and virtual storage solution, based on The Grid Layer, that provides a reliable, secure, and cost-effective to manage, store, and serve data and content.
