Kaavo

Overview

Kaavo provides Infrastructure as Service (IaaS) tools for building and managing applications in the cloud. Kaavo publicly launched its Infrastructure and Middleware on Demand (IMOD) solution in January 2009 as "the world's first application-centric management and security solution for cloud computing." This represents a change in approach from managing individual servers to managing systems for specific applications. As CEO Jamal Mazhar describes it "this is not just monitoring, this is the entire lifecycle from the application perspective."

Kaavo's IMOD solution gives users a single-click interface to:

• deploy and manage applications inside a cloud.
• automate system deployment for a single server or complex multi-server systems.
• manage security and access control of data in the cloud using AES-256 bit data encryption (the standard adopted by the U.S. government).
• automate data backups, monitoring and alerts.

Initially, Kaavo's IMOD supports connectivity to Amazon EC2, but plans to support other cloud services, like GoGrid and FlexiScale, in the near future. There are two versions of the solution, one for small businesses and one for enterprises, with differences in price and support.

Value Proposition

Kaavo's IMOD makes it easier and faster for enterprises to adopt cloud computing and the inherent benefits of it, while maintaining the same level of security and control over their assets as they would have behind their own firewall.

By taking an "application-centric" approach, they give users the ability to manage and scale complex, multi-server systems in the cloud. Creating a single System Definition file greatly simplifies application management, allowing for the easy transfer of an application from one installation to another.
