Salesforce.com Chatter Opens Beta With First 100 Customers

Salesforce.com launched its enterprise collaboration platform, taking its cues from the social networking area, to great interest at Dreamforce '09. Today, the company announced its private beta program selecting 100 customers, out of tens of thousands that applied, and include Reed Exhibitions, Schumacher Group, and TransUnion.

Salesforce Chatter is expected to be generally available later this year. Chatter will be included for free in all paid editions of Salesforce CRM and the Force.com platform. If businesses don’t use either of these products, they can pay $50 per user per month which will include Salesforce Chatter, Salesforce Content and Force.com. Salesforce will also be rolling out a lightweight free version of Chatter.
