Box.net Teams Up With Salesforce.com, Simplifies Collaboration

Box.net is offering unlimited storage through its cloud-based collaboration suite for customers using SalesForce.com CRM. The integration between Box.net and Salesforce CRM means sales and marketing teams can easily share, access, and manage documents, videos and training material online. It frees users to collaborate in real-time on leads and sales opportunities.

Box.net simplifies collaboration with the new integration, since everything can be managed from within Salesforce CRM. In addition, users can tap into any number of custom apps delivered on the OpenBox platform, such as, eFax, EchoSign and Zoho. Unlimited storage acts as a powerful incentive for small and medium-sized businesses to use Box.net as their storage and retrieval system of record.

Obviously, trusting your data to a cloud provider may raise some concerns over security. It's an issue that is not lost on Box.net. Phil Wainewright, in his ZDNet blog, includes an email conversation Jen Grant, VP of Marketing on the subject, which has been excerpted here:

“Here is a detailed outline of our current security measures in place: https://enterprise.box.net/features/security

In the short term, we’re adding encryption on files at rest (among other initiatives) in addition to the encryption in transit that we already have; you can expect this to be complete in the next few weeks.

For the long term, we’re currently undergoing the SAS 70 certification process within the company, which will ‘officially’ endorse our standards regarding both security and privacy. This is above and beyond security implementations that most companies have on an internal server or collaboration tool."
